Reggae Girlz Qualify For World Cup!

On Monday night Jamaica defeated Haiti 4-0  at the Concacaf Women’s Championship in Mexico to book a spot in their second straight FIFA World Cup.

This is the second time in history that a Caribbean team has qualified for a Women’s World Cup.

Jamaica broke the deadlock when Khadija Shaw set up Truid Carter, whose shot beat Haiti goalkeeper Nahomie Ambroise to make it 1-0 to the Reggae Girlz in the 26th minute.

Shaw, who scored a brace, doubled Jamaica’s lead in the 58th minute.

Haiti came really close to scoring in the 63rd minute with a blistering shot from Dumornay, but her attempt was thwarted by goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer who parried the ball onto the post and eventually out of play.

Shaw found the back of the net again from the penalty spot to extended Jamaica’s lead to 3-0 in the 70th minute.

A well placed header by Drew Spence in the 79th minute completed the 4-0 thumping by the Reggae Girlz.

Jamaica finished second in Group A of the preliminary round, so the Reggae Girlz have earned a direct pass to the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
