Coronavirus Cases Jump To 252 Locally

Jamaica’s tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases has increased from 233 to 252.

While speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton said details on the new cases were not yet available.

Currently 131 confirmed cases have been linked with Alorica, with ages ranging from 18 to 52 years.

The cases involve 104 females and 27 males, who live mainly in St Catherine and Kingston and St Andrew.

The island has now seen 34 imported cases, 53 contacts of confirmed cases, eight locally transmitted with no epidemiological link and 148 under investigation.

There are currently 230 persons in isolation in Jamaica. 28 persons have recovered and 71 individuals are currently in a government quarantine facility.

Globally, at least 2,656,627 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed with at least 185,166 deaths linked to the disease.

There have been 6 COVID-19 related deaths in Jamaica.
