Gardner’s football fame recreated on birthday cake

Usain Bolt surprised fellow retired Jamaican sporting legend Ricardo “Bibi” Gardner with an extra special cake for his birthday (26 September).

The world’s fastest sprinter sent the ex-Reggae Boyz’ left winger a special Bolton Wanderers-themed cake to celebrate his 41st birthday.

The cake made reference to Gardner’s memorable goal for English club Bolton in their famous 2-2 draw against German giants Bayern Munich a dozen years ago.

Gardner, who won 112 international caps, including at 1998 World Cup finals in France, last played for Bolton in 2012.

His club career in the north of England spanned 14 years, tackling 11 seasons in the Premier League.

He is now Portmore United’s assistant coach, and his former club Bolton tweeted (@OfficialBWFC):

“What a cake, Usain Bolt. The eight-time Olympic Gold Medalist got his friend and former Wanderers midfielder Ricardo Gardner a Bolton vs Bayern Munich themed birthday cake.”
