Jamaican Doctor Dies In Cayman After Being Struck By Taxi
A Jamaican doctor died in hospital in the Cayman islands this morning (July 18) – a day after being hit by a taxi.
Police in Cayman have confirmed her identity as 62 year-old Vary Anetta Jones-Leslie.
According to the Cayman Compass, Dr. Jones-Leslie, an obstetrician-gynecologist who worked at Spanish Town Hospital prior to her retirement last year was visiting Cayman to work a temporary fill-in post at the public hospital.
She was reportedly struck by a taxi van at Owen Roberts International Airport Monday morning and carried to hospital in critical condition.
She was reportedly in the process of leaving the airport shortly after arriving in Cayman when she was hit.
The taxi driver reportedly sustained injuries, was treated at hospital and released.
