Jamaica to Purchase 40 Dogs From Cuba to Boost Fight Against Drugs, Guns

Jamaica is reportedly set to purchase dogs from Cuba to bolster the nations fight against guns and drugs.

According to the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), Minister of National Security Robert Montague revealed that Jamaica will be purchasing 40 dogs from the Cuban Government to be used primarily for the detection of guns and drugs, in addition to search and rescue.

The island will reportedly send 40 trainers via the Jamaica Constabulary Force to Cuba to work with the dogs.

He made the disclosure while speaking to JCF and Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) personnel at a function at the Half Moon Hotel in Rose Hall, St James recently.

Because of their exceptional scent detection abilities, police and security personnel around the world regularly use dogs to help locate narcotics and bombs.
