Hurricane Otto Claims 3 Lives in Panama, Not a Threat to Jamaica
Late season hurricane kills 3
On Wednesday (November 23), tropical storm Otto intensified to become the seventh hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season.
The storm which is now affecting central America has already claimed three lives in Panama.
Meteorological experts are predicting the storm will continue its intensification as it moves across the Caribbean, possibly making landfall in Costa Rica and Nicaragua on Thursday.
If that occurs, it will mark the the first time a hurricane has made landfall in Costa Rica since reliable records began being kept in 1951.
Hurricane warnings are currently in effect for Costa Rica, Nicaragua and other areas.
The storm does not pose a threat to Jamaica.
