Historic – Jamaica Finally Wins Women’s 400M World Junior Title!
Until now, Jamaica has never won the women’s 400m title at the IAAF World U20 Championships.
The championships have been in existence for 30 years!
On Thursday, Tiffany James, our current national junior champion did just that.
After lowering her previous personal best time of 52.06 seconds to 51.77 to win her semi-final race, she went even faster in the final, to clock an incredible 51.32, the fastest time by a junior in the world so far this year.
Second was America’s Lynna Irby with a time of 51.39.
Another Jamaican athlete, former Junior champion Junelle Bromfield finished in third in 52.05.
