Head Coach Schäfer Wants to Quit Reggae Boyz?

Jamaica’s national football team coach, Winfried Schäfer might be considering quitting the Reggae Boyz for opportunities elsewhere.

According to Irie FM, Schäfer’s name was among four who were selected from an initial list of 36 applicants for the head coach position for African team Republic of Congo.

Schafer along with fellow German Gernot Rohr, and Frenchmen Didier Six and Jacques Santini were announced as the frontrunners after the technical meeting held on the weekend at the Ministry of Sports in the central African nation.

The 65 year old, who won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2002 with Cameroon, is understood to be the favourite to take over from current coach Claude Le Roy for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers.

  

Schafer who is owed 2 months salary by the Jamaica Football Federation, is currently off the island after leading the Reggae Boyz to the 2014 Caribbean Cup title and the final of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup In July.
