Taxi Driver Disarms Gunman in St Ann
According to a report by Loop News, at approximately 3:50 pm yesterday (November 3), a taxi driver who operates on the Discovery Bay to Trelawny route was driving along the roadway when he stopped to pick up two men posing as passengers.
After reaching a section of the Rio Bueno main road, one of the men pulled a firearm and ordered him to stop.
A struggle then ensued between the gunmen and the taxi operator during which the gunman was disarmed.
The weapon, a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol, and several rounds of ammunition, were handed over to the Police.
The men tried escaping in the taxi but it crashed. They escaped on foot in the area.
Earlier this week, a brave woman with the assistance of a licensed firearm holder, overpowered a gunman, relieved him of an illegal gun and handed him over to the police in Montego Bay, St James.
