Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls Lose 2 Games to England

Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls produced a much improved performance but went down to a 50-45 defeat to their England counterparts in game two of the three test Supreme Ventures Sunshine Series at the National Indoor Sports Center.

The youthful Jamaican team trailed 15-7 at the end of the first quarter, 33-16 at the second and 41-31 at the third.

However the Oberon Pitterson-Nattie led Girls showed grit and determination to reduce a 14 goal lead by England in the last quarter closing the gap by nine goals to lose the match by five.

Sabrina Spence led the Jamaican attack with 24 goals from 28 attempts, Shanice Beckford had 14 from 20, Shantel Slater scored 5 from 7 while Thristina Harwood scored 2 from 2.

  

Pamela Cookie was England’s leading scorer with 25 from 27 attempts while Kadeen Corbin had 20 from 30.

Tuesday’s result follows the 53-42 defeat in the opening game on Tuesday.

The third and final test will be played on Saturday at the same venue.
