8 Visitors Quarantined from Ebola Affected Countries Says Health Ministry

According to Irie FM, the Ministry of Health is reporting that to date it has successfully quarantined eight travellers who visited Jamaica from countries with Ebola outbreaks.

The ministry says this is in keeping with its protocols and the travel restrictions implemented by the government.

According to Health Minister, Dr. Fenton Ferguson the 8 travellers were quarantined in order to safeguard the population and to minimise any possible risk of introduction of the Ebola virus into Jamaica.

Seven people were successfully monitored by senior public health officers and have since been released from quarantine or have left the island prior to the end of the quarantine period.

The quarantine of the eighth individual, ends today.

That person will have to endure on-going twice daily monitoring by the public health team for signs and symptoms of Ebola.
