Cold Front Set to Cool Jamaica as Gusty Winds and Showers Move In

A developing cold front is expected to move into the western Caribbean region over the weekend, with Jamaica firmly in its path.

According to the Meteorological Service, the system is forecast to begin influencing local weather conditions from Saturday night and persist into the early part of next week.

As a result of the approaching front, noticeably cooler conditions are anticipated across the island, marking a shift from recent weather patterns.

Strong and gusty winds are also projected, with the greatest impact likely to be felt in northern parishes as well as elevated and hilly areas.

Widespread cloud cover is expected to dominate, accompanied by increased periods of showers affecting most sections of the country.

During this period, marine conditions are forecast to worsen significantly due to very strong near gale-force winds.

Because of the expected deterioration at sea, fishers and other marine operators are being urged to exercise caution, particularly from Saturday night through early next week.

Weather officials continue to monitor the system as it advances through the region, with the cold front expected to remain the dominant feature influencing Jamaica’s weather over the coming days.
