Arsenal U16 Manager Joins Reggae Boyz Coaching Staff

Michael Donaldson, currently heading Arsenal’s Under-16 squad, has been appointed as the second assistant coach for the Reggae Boyz ahead of their FIFA Inter-Confederation World Cup playoffs in Mexico this March.

The English-born coach brings a wealth of experience in youth development, having previously led player development at Tottenham Hotspur and worked to transition young talent into professional football careers.

Experience under Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs further strengthened Donaldson’s coaching credentials, where he served as an assistant and gained insight into top-level football management.

Connections with Reading United also form part of Donaldson’s coaching portfolio, highlighting his involvement with youth talent beyond England.

Joining him on the technical staff will be interim head coach Rudolph Speid, assistant Miguel Coley, and goalkeeper coach Aaron Lawrence.

The management team is complemented by General Manager Roy Simpson, Team Manager Omar Stennett, fitness coach Lamar Morgan, video analyst Kyle Chin, and team doctor Dr Derrick McDowell.

Mexico will host Jamaica’s first playoff match against New Caledonia on March 26 in Guadalajara, with the winner advancing to the playoff final.

A showdown with the Democratic Republic of Congo is scheduled for March 31, where victory will secure a spot at the World Cup finals in the USA, Mexico, and Canada this June.

Preparations for the playoffs have ramped up, with the coaching and management staff combining local expertise and international experience.

The Reggae Boyz will aim to translate their preparation into results as they chase a place on football’s biggest stage this summer.
