Bunny Shaw Nets Twice as City Defeat Leicester 3-0

Manchester City stretched their lead at the top of the English Women’s Super League to six points thanks to a dominant 3-0 victory over Leicester City.
Khadija “Bunny” Shaw was the standout performer, scoring twice and setting up another goal to seal the win.
After several missed opportunities, Shaw capitalised on a mishandled clearance from Celeste Boureille, slotting the ball low past Janina Leitzig.
A header from Shaw followed nine minutes later, connecting with Lauren Hemp’s precise cross to double City’s advantage.
In injury-time, Brazilian winger Kerolin finished a through ball from Shaw to wrap up the scoring.
For much of the match, City’s potent attack was kept in check by a determined Leicester defence.
Possession statistics reflected City’s control, with the visitors holding over 75 per cent of the ball, but 14 first-half attempts failed to find the target.
Frustration was evident on Shaw’s face as she missed four clear chances, including a far-post opportunity left unmarked.
Janina Leitzig made two key saves to deny Vivianne Miedema, the second coming after a clever nutmeg past Leicester captain Janice Cayman.
Kerolin’s introduction after the break provided fresh impetus, culminating in the decisive error from Boureille that Shaw converted.
Chelsea’s loss to Everton in an earlier match ensured City maintained their six-point lead atop the standings.
Leicester remain ninth in the WSL with just six points from their opening fixtures.
