Bailey Faces Potential Roma Exit Amid Wage-Cutting Drive

Roma’s efforts to reshape their outgoing transfer strategy have intensified as the club looks to trim its wage bill in order to fund a move for Joshua Zirkzee.

Attention has now turned to Leon Bailey, the Jamaican winger who joined on loan amid high expectations for a boost to the attack.

Persistent physical setbacks have contributed to Bailey’s limited involvement, leaving his role under Gian Piero Gasperini difficult to define.

Over recent months, inconsistent displays and minimal influence have prompted the club’s hierarchy to include him among the players earmarked for departure.

Freeing up financial room is seen as essential, with Bailey’s exit viewed as a practical step towards balancing the books.

An attempt was made to place the winger at Benfica, but the Portuguese side declined the proposal.

That rejection has added complexity to sporting director Frederic Massara’s task of reshaping the squad.

Securing an alternative destination for Bailey has therefore become a pressing priority behind the scenes.

The urgency is heightened by Roma’s struggles in front of goal, with just fifteen goals scored across fourteen matches highlighting the need for attacking reinforcements.

Alongside Bailey’s situation, Massara is also overseeing the expected return of Evan Ferguson to Brighton, as reported by Il Corriere dello Sport.

Clearing out unsuccessful loan arrangements is part of a broader plan designed to unlock resources for new arrivals.

All roads ultimately lead to Zirkzee, with Gasperini pushing for immediate signings that align closely with the demands of his tactical system.
