Taylor Hinds Rejoins England After Short Spell with Jamaica

England-born defender Taylor Hinds has opted to represent her birth nation once again, confirming her switch from Jamaica to England ahead of the Lionesses’ friendly matches against Brazil and Australia later this month.

Now 26 years old, Hinds previously appeared for Jamaica in a friendly against France last year, marking her first senior international outing. Earlier in her career, she had represented England at the Under-17 and Under-19 levels.

Under FIFA’s nationality rules, players who have not competed in official tournaments remain eligible to change associations, which made Hinds’ return to England possible.

In her official statement, Hinds thanked both countries and acknowledged how difficult the choice had been.

“It’s a privilege to have two nationalities, and I’m incredibly proud to represent both. I’m still officially an England player and have grown up through the system. I have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation for Jamaica — they’ve been so understanding and genuinely want the best for me, which means a lot,” she said.

She went on to add that her family backed her decision fully and that the opportunity to rejoin England was something special.

“My family fully supports me in whatever decision I make for my future and my ambition to play at the highest level. Being called up to represent England is an amazing feeling and opportunity. I know what it means to wear the shirt, to be a Lioness — and it truly means everything to me and my family.”

A versatile player comfortable both at left back and centre half, Hinds also made a high-profile transfer during the summer, moving from Liverpool to Arsenal in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Meanwhile, the Reggae Girlz, coached by Hubert Busby, will begin their campaign in the preliminary phase of the 2026 Concacaf W Championship. Drawn in Group B alongside Guyana, Nicaragua, Dominica, and Antigua and Barbuda, Jamaica will start their journey against Dominica on November 29 in Saint Lucia.
