FIFA Highlights Jamaica’s Warner Brown Among Standouts in World Cup Qualifying
Jamaica’s Warner Brown continues to grab headlines after FIFA singled him out as one of the top performers in the second round of Concacaf qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 22-year-old striker was among a handful of players across the region recognised for their match-winning contributions as 12 nations secured spots in the final qualifying round.
Brown scored three goals during the June window, cementing his status as one of Jamaica’s most exciting young talents.
After netting the lone goal in a crucial away win over the British Virgin Islands, he followed up with a dominant display in Kingston, bagging two more in Jamaica’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Guatemala.
His first came after reacting quickest to a saved penalty, while his second saw him finish sharply at the near post from a corner.
His all-round effort and clinical finishing were noted by FIFA, who described him as a player that “continues to amaze” for the Reggae Boyz.
FIFA highlighted Brown in a recent post on their website, further underscoring his impact during the round.
Several other players were highlighted for their standout performances across the region.
Bermuda’s Reggie Lambe came off the bench to score a dramatic late winner against Cuba, while Costa Rica’s young striker Andy Madrigal netted three goals over two matches, including the game-winner against Trinidad and Tobago.
Curaçao’s Rangelo Janga’s spot was taken by Gervane Kastaneer, who bagged five goals across two matches—including a hat-trick against St. Lucia and a thunderous opener against Haiti. He now leads the scoring charts alongside Oalex Anderson of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
El Salvador’s Styven Gil also earned praise after scoring in both of his country’s fixtures, including a vital equaliser in a nervy 1-1 draw with Suriname to help secure qualification.
