Bunny Shaw Sidelined Indefinitely, Reggae Girlz Announce Squad for USA Friendly
Reggae Girlz captain Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw will be out of competitive football for an indefinite period due to a persistent hamstring injury, head coach Hubert Busby has confirmed.
Shaw’s absence comes as a major setback, especially after her outstanding performance for Manchester City in the 2024–2025 Women’s Super League (WSL) season.
Despite missing nearly half the season, she clinched the Golden Boot for the second straight year with 12 goals in just 14 appearances.
Her injury was sustained during Manchester City’s League Cup defeat to Chelsea on March 15.
The club eventually finished fourth in the WSL with 43 points.
The Reggae Girlz are preparing to face the United States in an international friendly scheduled for June 3 at the Energisers Stadium in St. Louis — the first meeting between the teams since 2022.
Coach Busby has named a 23-player squad for the upcoming fixture, blending experienced campaigners with emerging talent.
The goalkeeping trio includes Sydney Schneider, Liya Brooks, and Serena Mensah. Defenders Chantelle Swaby, Konya Plummer, Naya Cardoza, Vyan Sampson, and Allyson Swaby are set to provide stability at the back.
The midfield will feature Nyema Ingleton, Amelia Van Zanten, Solai Washington, Atlanta Primus, Deniesha Blackwood, and Olufolasade Adamolekun. The forwards selected include Kayla McKenna, Reanna Blades, Kameron Simmonds, Shania Hayles, Shaniel Buckley, Kalyssa Van Zanten, and Jody Brown.
Despite Shaw’s absence, the Reggae Girlz remain focused on building momentum ahead of future competitions.
