Jamaica’s Bobby Reid Shines with Two Assists as Leicester City Stun Spurs in Dramatic Turnaround
Jamaican international Bobby De Cordova-Reid delivered a stellar performance, notching two assists to inspire Leicester City to a 2-1 comeback victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
The result ended Leicester’s seven-match losing streak and lifted them out of the relegation zone, while intensifying the pressure on Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou.
Leicester trailed at halftime after Richarlison’s 33rd-minute header put the hosts ahead. Pedro Porro’s inviting cross from the right found the Brazilian striker, who rose unmarked to steer his effort past Jakub Stolarczyk.
However, the second half belonged to De Cordova-Reid, whose creativity was instrumental in turning the match on its head.
Just 57 seconds after the restart, the Jamaican winger whipped in a dangerous cross that Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky failed to gather, allowing Jamie Vardy to pounce with a close-range tap-in.
Moments later, De Cordova-Reid capitalised on a misplaced pass from Rodrigo Bentancur, setting up Bilal El Khannouss at the edge of the area.
The Moroccan youngster curled a sublime shot into the bottom-right corner, giving Leicester a lead they would not relinquish.
Tottenham pushed for an equaliser, with Porro seeing a deflected free-kick crash against the crossbar. However, Leicester’s resolute defence held firm, denying Spurs any further opportunities.
For De Cordova-Reid, it was a standout performance, as he showcased the vision and composure that have made him a key player for both club and country.
His contribution was pivotal in securing Leicester’s first league win since October, a result that moves them up to 17th in the table, one point clear of the relegation zone.
Postecoglou’s Spurs, meanwhile, continue to struggle with consistency, as injuries to key players such as James Maddison and Cristian Romero have exposed their frailties.
Despite Richarlison’s encouraging return, the team has now lost 13 of their 23 league matches, leaving them in 15th place.
