Bailey and Nicholson Return to Reggae Boyz Squad for Nations League Showdown Against USA
Leon Bailey and Shamar Nicholson have been named to Jamaica’s 23-man squad for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals against the United States, as the Reggae Boyz look to advance to the tournament’s final stages.
The first leg will see Jamaica face the USA at the National Stadium in Kingston on November 14, followed by the return fixture on November 18 at Energizer Park in St. Louis.
Bailey, returning to national duties after a suspension and recent injury issues, has shown commitment under head coach Steve McClaren, who highlighted the winger’s efforts to regain full fitness.
McClaren shared that Bailey is “absolutely delighted and can’t wait to come over and be part of the squad.”
Nicholson, who sat out the last squad to focus on fitness with Spartak Moscow, is also back, having recently increased his minutes and goal tally.
McClaren praised Nicholson’s dedication, noting he hired a personal trainer to aid his progress and expressed eagerness for his return.
Newcastle United’s Isaac Hayden will debut for Jamaica, bringing his experience as a defensive midfielder to the team. McClaren emphasised Hayden’s value, stating the player “wants to kick on” at this stage in his career and will bring added stability to the squad.
The full Reggae Boyz squad features a strong blend of experience and young talent, aiming to deliver a powerful performance on home turf and away.
