Vybz Kartel Makes Surprise Appearance at PNP Conference
Dancehall star Vybz Kartel made an unexpected appearance at the People’s National Party (PNP) conference on Sunday, causing excitement among supporters.
He was greeted with thunderous cheers as hundreds in the National Arena attempted to catch a glimpse of the self-proclaimed ‘Worl’ Boss’.
Kartel did not speak to the audience, and PNP president Mark Golding had not yet arrived at the event.
However, Kartel’s lawyer and PNP member, Isat Buchanan, used the moment to make a brief remark, stating, “God and time.”
Kartel’s presence is likely to reignite discussions about Jamaica’s political associations with individuals who have faced legal troubles, despite his acquittal.
In 2017, the Holness administration faced similar scrutiny when entertainer Ninja Man, now incarcerated, was involved in a Ministry of National Security event.
At the time, former National Security Minister Robert Montague was criticised for including Ninja Man in a motivational programme aimed at boosting morale among the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
Kartel’s participation in the PNP conference has rekindled these debates, with many questioning the connection between politics and entertainment, especially when those involved have had legal challenges.
