Leon Bailey Set to Extend Aston Villa Stay with New Long-Term Contract Amid Stellar Performances

Jamaica international Leon Bailey is poised to solidify his allegiance to Aston Villa by signing a new long-term contract.

He has emerged as a pivotal figure under the guidance of manager Unai Emery, establishing himself as a key player contributing to Villa’s pursuit of Champions League qualification.

Bailey, who was acquired from Bayer Leverkusen for £25 million in August 2021, has demonstrated a remarkable improvement in his performance this season.

With seven goals and six assists to his name, he has showcased his finest form since joining the club, earning accolades for his contributions on the field.

His recent goal in the commanding 5-0 victory over Sheffield United further underscored his importance to Villa’s ambitions.

Talks between Villa and Bailey’s representative, his father Craig Butler, initiated towards the end of last year, have culminated in verbal agreement on contractual terms, signaling a promising future for the talented winger.

The winger’s attributes, including his speed, direct running, and ambidexterity, have posed significant challenges for opposing defenses.

While acknowledging Bailey’s occasional inconsistency, Emery remains confident in the player’s ability to elevate his performance and contribute further to Villa’s aspirations for Champions League qualification.

Despite potential competition from signings like Moussa Diaby, Bailey has risen to the occasion, solidifying his status as an indispensable asset for Villa.

Emery, buoyed by Bailey’s recent displays, believes there is still untapped potential in the 26-year-old, envisioning further growth and success as Villa continues their push for European football.
