Jamaican international Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, has been honoured with the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) Player of the Month award for her outstanding performances throughout December.

This accolade follows her recognition as the Joie Player of the Month during the same period.

Shaw’s remarkable feat marks her first Player of the Month award this season, reflecting her instrumental role in Manchester City’s success on the field.

The 26-year-old striker showcased her goal-scoring abilities by netting a sensational hat-trick in Manchester City’s commanding 4-1 victory over Everton at the close of 2023.

This stellar performance solidified her position as the leading scorer in the division, with an impressive nine goals in as many matches.

It was in a clash against Everton where Shaw truly shone, redeeming herself after a missed penalty by breaking the deadlock with a sublime chip past Everton’s goalkeeper, Courtney Brosnan.

The towering striker continued her scoring spree with a driven shot into the bottom corner, doubling both her and City’s tally at Walton Hall Park.

Jill Roord further extended the visitors’ lead. Shaw scored again in the 65th minute, sealing the victory for City.

Expressing her joy and gratitude, Shaw said in an interview on the club’s website, “I am happy to win the award for the first time this year.

“December was a great month for us as a team, and I am grateful to everyone who voted.”

Reflecting on the team’s success, she added, “We’re getting into a really important part of the season now, so winning both our games in December has given us a big boost. Hopefully, we can continue our strong form until the end of the season so we can make our fans happy.”
