American singer and actress Fantasia Barrino-Taylor has showered praise on Jamaica, naming the island as her favourite destination during a recent interview with Variety Magazine.

The acclaimed artiste, known for her role as ‘Celie’ in the recreated movie classic ‘The Colour Purple,’ expressed her love for the island’s culture, cuisine, and vibrant atmosphere.

In the interview, Barrino-Taylor gushed about her fondness for Jamaica, emphasising her love for the local cuisine and the island’s dynamic nightlife.

“Oh my God! The food in Jamaica! I’m definitely gaining a couple of pounds, but I love to eat.


“I love to go to the clubs and dance all night. I just love Jamaica,” she exclaimed.

The Ministry of Tourism warmly welcomed the singer’s endorsement, sharing a snippet of her interview on its social media platform.

Fantasia’s connection with Jamaica extends beyond leisure, as she has been a frequent visitor for both professional engagements as a concert headliner and personal downtime, immersing herself in the rich Jamaican culture.
