“I Do Believe I Am the Greatest Female Sprinter of All Time,” Declares Elaine Thompson-Herah Ahead of World Athletics Championships

As the World Athletics Championships in Budapest commence, Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah remains undeterred by her recent challenges and is resolute in her conviction.

“I do believe I am the greatest female sprinter of all time,” Thompson-Herah confidently asserted in a recent interview.

Despite not qualifying for individual events this year, her confidence remains unshaken, and she seems confident she will make her mark in the 4x100m relays alongside her fellow Jamaican athletes.

Having recently returned to the track after a brief hiatus following the Jamaican National Championships, the 31-year-old sprinter is determined to close out the 2023 season on a strong note.

Her primary goals now include aiding her team’s qualification in the 4x100m relay.

Notably, Thompson-Herah’s journey has taken an interesting turn with the addition of Shanikie Osbourne, a former MVP coach, to her coaching team.

Despite this new addition, Thompson-Herah affirmed that her husband, Derron Herah, will continue to play a significant role in her coaching setup.

She revealed that her consideration of Osbourne as a coach has been a year-and-a-half-long process, culminating in the decision to collaborate during a trial period.

She also spoke of her setbacks, stating, “When you’re a true champion, you are not going to have everything sum up the way you want it.”

These challenges have seemingly only fuelled her determination to persevere and fight for her place at the pinnacle of sprinting.

Thompson-Herah’s unwavering self-assurance exudes from her statement, “The fact that I have so much hurdles and obstacles to fight, I will keep on fighting because I do believe I am the greatest female sprinter of all time, and until it is [disproven], I can repeat whatever I’ve done before.”
