Jamaica’s Tina Clayton Named International Under 20 Female Athlete Of The Year
Athletics Weekly has named Jamaica’s back-to-back World Under 20 one hundred meter champion Tina Clayton international under 20 female athlete of the year.
Athletics Weekly is a monthly track and field magazine published in the United Kingdom by Athletics Weekly Limited. The magazine covers news, results, fixtures, coaching and product advice for all aspects of track and field, cross-country, road racing and race walking.
The announcement follows a phenomenal season where Clayton ran a new championship record 10.95 seconds en route to winning gold at the world under 20 championships in Cali, Colombia where she was also part of Jamaica’s winning 4×100 metre relay team.
Clayton was also victorious in the women’s 100 meters at the Carifta games in Kingston where she lined up alongside sister Tia, Serena Cole and Brianna Liston to win gold in the women’s 4×100 metre event in a blistering 42.58 seconds.
The men’s equivalent meanwhile was won by Erriyon Knighton of the United States.
Other individual award winners include American Sydney Mclaughlin and Mundo Duplantis of Sweden who were named the international female and male athletes of the year.
