COVID Case Count Surpasses 12,000 Locally

Two more COVID-19 related deaths and 96 new cases were recorded across Jamaica on Friday, the Ministry of Health and Wellness has revealed.

The deceased are an 80-year-old male from St. Catherine; and a 76-year-old male from Trelawny. 

The latest fatalities bring the death toll from the coronavirus in Jamaica to 285.

The 96 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases bring the total number of cases on record for the island to 12,135. Recoveries increased by 144, bringing total recoveries to 8,812.

  

Of the newly confirmed cases, 43 are males and 53 are females, with ages ranging from 1 year to 87 years. 

There are 24 moderately ill patients and 10 critically ill patients among the 2,882 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.
