First Coronavirus Case Confirmed In The Dominican Republic

Healthcare experts in countries around the world are now bracing for  impact as the coronavirus continues to spread globally.

Officials in the Dominican Republic today revealed the first confirmed case of the virus in the country.

The country’s public health Minister Rafael Sánchez said a 62-year-old man from Italy arrived in the country on February 22 and was asymptomatic.

During a press conference Mr Sanchez also said the man has been taken to an isolation room in a military hospital near the capital.

  

Another tourist, a 56-year-old man from France, is  also being observed at hospital as he awaits test results for the virus.
