COVID-19 Cases In Jamaica Rise To 26

Jamaica now has 26 confirmed cases of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton made the announcement during a digital press conference on Wednesday.

Dr Tufton revealed that the most recent diagnosis is that of a 70 year old male from Clarendon.

The patient hails from Corn Piece settlement community in the parish and is linked to the 79 year old man who became the first person to die from COVID-19 in Jamaica.

  

The health ministry is currently awaiting the results of 18 additional tests.

Globally at least 488,000 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed with at least 22,000 deaths linked to the disease.

To date, there has been one COVID-19 related death in Jamaica.
