Bolt Ranked 7th On List Of World’s Most Famous Athletes By ESPN

The fastest man in history – Jamaica’s Usain Bolt is the 7th most famous athlete on the planet according to a recent ranking by ESPN.

A formula that combines endorsements with social media following and internet search popularity was used to create the ESPN World Fame 100 rankings.

The ranking is likely to ruffle the feathers of many fans of Bolt whose 100m gold medal win at the London Olympics attracted an estimated two billion viewers globally despite not being aired live in the United States.

ESPN’s ranking regards Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo as the most famous athlete globally.

  

NBA star Lebron James is second on the list with Lionel Messi in 3rd. Tennis legend Roger Federer is 4th with American professional golfer Phil Mickelson sitting in 5th.

Brazilian football star Neymar is 6th.

Usain Bolt is the first person to hold both the 100 metres and 200 metres world records since fully automatic time became mandatory. He also holds the world record as a part of the 4 × 100 metres relay. He is the reigning world and Olympic champion in these three events. Due to his unprecedented dominance and achievements in sprint competition, he is widely considered to be the greatest sprinter of all time.
