Jamaica Scorpions Reach Super50 Final With Record Breaking Performance
Jamaica Records Highest Score Of All Time in Regional 50-over cricket!
The Jamaica Scorpions have advanced to the final of the Regional Super50 tournament.
This after handily defeating the two-time defending Champions – Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by 292 runs at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
The Scorpions, who were asked to bat first after losing the toss, racked up a record 434 for 4 from their 50 overs.
Jermaine Blackwood and Chadwick Walton both made centuries.
Walton smashed his way to 117 while sharing in an opening wicket partnership of 174 with Steven Taylor who made 88.
He then added 95 for the 2nd wicket with Jermaine Blackwood who ended unbeaten on 108.
Blackwood, who reached the 100 mark after having faced only 79 balls, then put on 163 for the 3rd wicket with Rovman Powell who bowled just 5 runs short of his century.
The defending champs in their reply were bundled out for 142 in 26.3 overs despite an unbeaten 62 by Jason Mohammed.
Final scores, Jamaica Scorpions 434 for 4, T&T Red Force 142.
The score by the Scorpions is the 9th highest in the history of 50 over cricket. It is also the highest score in a 50 over tournament in the West Indies.
They will face the victor of the second semi-final between the Leeward Islands Hurricanes and Barbados Pride in the final on Saturday.
