Man Sets House On Fire With Family Still Inside to Avoid Being Arrested

Police Rescue 6 From Burning Building!

A man is now in police custody after he reportedly set a house ablaze with his family still inside in an attempt to avoid being arrested.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) at approximately 2:30 am on Tuesday (January 17) detectives were processing a scene where a man was earlier shot.

While probing the area that was cordoned, a Toyota Isis was checked and it was revealed that the driver/owner was wanted by the Half Way Tree Police for three counts of Robbery.

The wanted man was eventually located at his home at Everest Drive, Bay Shore Park, Kingston 17  but reportedly refused to cooperate and threatened to set the house on fire and kill himself and his family, to include his common-law wife and four children, aged- nine (9) months old to sixteen (16) year-old.

As police officers prepared to enter the building, the man reportedly set the house ablaze.

However, swift action by the lawmen who were present enabled them to rescue all six persons from the inferno.

The house and its contents did not fare as well and were destroyed by the fire.

All persons escaped physical injury and the JCF says the wanted man is now in police custody and is to face charges.

The matter is still being investigated.
