Bolt,Thompson Claim Sportsman, Sportswoman of the Year awards

Usain Bolt and Elaine Thompson were both electrifying for Jamaica at the Rio Olympics last year.

And on Friday night, the two  were unsurprisingly crowned 2016 RJR Sports Foundation National Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year at an awards ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus.

Bolt, who won 3 gold medals for Jamaica  in Rio last year, landed the award for a record equalling 7thtime while it was the first for Thompson who became the first women’s sprint double champion at the Olympics in nearly three decades.

Olympic 110m hurdles gold medallist Omar McLeod was runner up to Bolt, while swimmer Alia Atkinson was runner up to Thompson.

Christopher Taylor of Calabar High claimed the People’s Choice Performance of the Year award for his incredible anchor leg in the 4x400m at Boys and Girls Championships in 2016.
