International Orgill makes move to ‎Austria top-tier

Dever Orgill, who became the inaugural Jamaican to win a league in Scandinavia, has moved from Finnish champions IFK Mariehamn to Wolfsberger AC. The 26-year-old forward won the league last month and is eager to make an impact in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Having made just eight appearances for Jamaica since 2010, the Port Antonio-born six-footer is hoping to catch the eye of whoever takes over as head coach‎ of the Reggae Boyz. He is already a journeyman throughout his professional career‎ that kicked off in Canada with the Vancouver Whitecaps for two seasons.

Three seasons at St. George’s SC at Buff Bay in Portland ‎back in his home parish in Jamaica under former national head coach Geoffrey Maxwell proved frustrating with just four goals and 18 appearances.

Following trials with IFK Mariehamn Orgill signed for the team in April 2013, and became one of their star players by bagging 30 goals in 80 league matches, notching a dozen strikes this term.

Wolsberger AC needed a goal-hungry striker as they currently lie sixth in the league‎ after 14 games.

Ambitious Orgill, overlooked for Jamaica’s Caribbean Cup ties as he is Eur‎opean-based, said about his new side:
“For a club of this size I’d like to help them win the league and play UEFA Champions League football, it’ll take time but we’ll get there – so this is a good move for my career‎.”
