Polish-German Fighter Decides to Fight For Jamaica

Peter Sobotta, a 29-year-old Polish-German professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, recently made a surprising disclosure as he spoke to the media earlier this week.

Sobotta, who is currently slated to fight Denmark’s Nicolas Dalby at the Ultimate FIghting Championship (UFC) Hamburg this weekend stated why he opted to switch allegiance to represent Jamaica.

During an interview with MMADK he said:

“I was born in Poland but raised in Germany so the media and the fans always asked me – “Do you represent Poland or Germany?”…..and I think it’s a stupid question because I have two hearts inside my soul…a Polish and a German heart….and whatever I say, one side always feels bad…and this is why I choose to represent Jamaica just to send out the message”.

“I always say – I’m born in Poland, raised in Germany, but in the heart I’m a Jamaican”, he also added.

Sobotta’s martial arts record features 15 wins from 21 matches.
