PM, Opposition Leader – Emancipation Day Messages
Jamaica is one of several former British colonies in the Caribbean and other places that celebrates Emancipation Day.
It is a date traditionally set aside in observance of the emancipation of slaves of African descent.
Here in Jamaica, Emancipation Day is also a public holiday when all schools and public buildings are closed.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller have both befittingly released Emancipation Day messages.
