Flat Bridge to Be Made Safer

Last month six persons died after an ill-fated Suzuki Grand Vitara motor vehicle fell into the Rio Cobre.

The driver of the vehicle which was carrying eight people reportedly misjudged a turn upon reaching the Bog Walk Gorge before the vehicle fell in the water.

Now plans outlining measures to make the bride and gorge over which it runs safer are reportedly in place.

According to The Observer, the measures include resurfacing, repairing and installation of guardrails, markings, erection of road signs, installation of street lights, and rumble strips, as well as bushing the area between the entrance and exit to the bridge.

Director of the National Road Safety Unit (NRSU) Kanute Hare also reportedly stated that the National Works Agency (NWA) has indicated that these works and measures would be in place by the end of September.
