Bolt, Blake, Ashmeade Reach Men’s 100m Semi-Finals – Rio Games
It was relatively smooth sailing for the Jamaican men who earlier today participated in the 100m heats at the Olympic Games currently underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The world’s fastest man, despite not having a fantastic start, comfortably won heat 7 in a time of 10.07s ahead of Andrew Fisher (10.10s) who represents Bahrain.
Yohan Blake crossed the line in 10.10s, ahead of Jax Harvey of Turkey.
Nickel Ashmeade (10.13s) had to settle settle for second place in his heat following a surprise loss to Xie Chenye from China.
Xie Chenye ran a personal best of 10.08.
Andrew Fisher and Jax Harvey both formerly represented Jamaica.
America’s Justin Gatlin exploded out of the blocks in his heat to cross the finish line in 10.01s ahead of Daniel Bailey of Antigua and Barbuda who ran 10.20 seconds.
