At Least 12 People Hospitalised Following St Ann Crash

One person has reportedly died and at least twelve people have been hospitalised after receiving injuries in a motor vehicle accident in the parish of St Ann.

The incident reportedly occurred along the Llandovery Main Road in the parish this afternoon, Friday, August 12.

Though the death of one person has not been officially confirmed by police, sources at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital have reportedly stated that one of the crash victims has perished.

According to Loop Jamaica, over a dozen people were carried to hospital following the motor vehicle collision involving a Hiace passenger bus and a Toyota Axio about a mile from the traffic lights at Salem, on the North Coast Highway.

Reports are it was a head-on crash that left the bus on its top and the car off the road in bushes.

The crash occurred around 2 pm as the bus plied its usual Brown’s Town to Ocho Rios route.

Police have not yet issued a report on the crash.

Friday’s accident brings to 12 the number of persons killed on the Llandovery Main Road since the start 2016.

In May of this year, five persons also lost their lives in a motor vehicle accident along the Llandovery main road.

In that incident, a mini bus reportedly collided with a motor vehicle being driven by a woman before overturning.
