“I am going out there to run hard” Says Bolt Ahead of Cayman Meet
Usain Bolt has not competed since he won three gold medals at last year’s World Championships in Beijing.
Bolt produced arguably his biggest clutch performance to defeat American rival Justin Gatlin with – .01 seconds to spare over 100 m, clocking a time of 9.79 seconds.
That triumph earned him his third world title in the 100 m and followed two years of uncertainty regarding his form.
The world’s fastest man is slated to compete at this evening’s Cayman Invitational meet at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in Grand Cayman and he is hoping to deliver a solide performance.
According to The Gleaner, Bolt recently stated at a press conference:
“I don’t know what to expect. Most of my friends have bet on how fast I am going to run. I have 9.91, so we will see how that goes. The fastest time is 9.86 so I will see how it works out,”
“I am going out there to run hard because I need to see where I am at this stage of the season … what I need to work on, it’s all about execution,” he also said.
Bolt will face off against his training partner Kemar Bailey-Cole and Kemar Hyman of the Cayman Islands. Both men have dipped below 10 seconds for the 100m.
