Body of Schoolgirl Found After St Thomas Flooding
The body of a girl who was among three students that washed away in St Thomas has been found.
The body of Brittany Cowell, a student of Paul Bogle High School, was reportedly found along a roadway in the parish on Wednesday morning.
According to Loop Jamaica, reports were that the students were on their way home when they were swept away after a river in the area overflowed it banks.
Until late Tuesday night, many roads in St Thomas were still flooded after heavy rainfall lashed the parish.
The affected roads included Church Corner main road in Morant Bay, the Roselle to Belvedere road, Lyssons, and the Port Morant and Arcadia main road.
The Golden Grove to Hordley Crossing main road was impassable, as the Plantain Garden River overflowed its banks.
In some cases, motorists who attempted to cross some of the flooded roads had to be rescued by firemen and the police.
Residents were reportedly able to rescue the other students.
