18-Yr-Old Jamaican Footballer Named Belgian Pro League’s Most Promising Player
18-year-old Leon Bailey, a skillful Jamaican winger is having a fairy-tale season in the Belgian Pro League.
The teenager has won the coveted Most Promising Player of the Year award for his contributions at his club KRC Genk.
Bailey, who is now being described as a ‘wonderkid’ was sensational in his most recent campaign scoring 9 goals and providing 9 assists.
He is a product of the Phoenix Academy and president Craig Butler recently stated the achievement is a phenomenal one for Jamaica.
The supremely gifted youngster has attracted a lot of interest from several European clubs in recent times.
KRC Genk has been one of the most successful clubs in Belgium since the late 1990s.
The club has won 3 Belgian champion titles in 1998–99, in 2001–02 and in 2010–11 as well as 4 Belgian Cups, most recently in 2008–09 and in 2012–13.
Leon Bailey made his Jamaica under-23 debut on March 8 2015 versus the Cayman Islands under-23 side, where he scored directly from a freekick.
