No Trinidadians Denied Entry to Jamaica Says Foreign Affairs Minister

Several Jamaicans have been denied entry and subjected to poor treatment by security and immigration officials in Trinidad in recent times.

However, Jamaica seems to be taking the high road.

Despite numerous complaints of inhumane treatment by Jamaicans who recently travelled to Trinidad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kamina-Johnson-Smith says  every Trinidadian national that travels to Jamaica is allowed entry.

Johnson-Smith reportedly made the announcement while speaking at a post cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House in Kingston on Wednesday.

Last month, at least twelve Jamaicans claimed they were denied entry to Trinidad with no specific reason given.

Minister Johnson-Smith also stated:

“The treatment being meted out to our nationals is not acceptable. Betweeen January 2015 and March 2016, 98 per cent of Jamaicans were allowed entry and 100 per cent of Trinidadians were allowed entry into Jamaica.”
