Jamaican Winger Leon Bailey To Rejoin Aston Villa from Roma

Fresh developments indicate that Aston Villa are preparing to welcome Jamaican winger Leon Bailey back to the club following moves to recall him from his loan spell at Serie A side Roma.

Reports suggest the Reggae Boyz international will rejoin Villa just days after Donyell Malen departed Villa Park for the Italian capital, a transfer that delivered an instant impact for Roma.

On Sunday, Malen marked his debut with a goal as Roma secured a 2-0 Serie A victory away to Torino, providing a sharp contrast to Villa’s struggles at home.

Meanwhile, the Premier League outfit failed to find the net in a narrow 1-0 loss to Everton at Villa Park on the same weekend.

During that contest in Italy, Malen required only 26 minutes to open the scoring while operating as a central striker, before Paulo Dybala extended Roma’s advantage after the interval.

In contrast, Bailey’s time in Italy proved frustrating, with injuries limiting the winger to just seven appearances across all competitions.

Following negotiations between the clubs, the 26-year-old is now expected to be gradually reintegrated into Unai Emery’s squad.

Uncertainty remains over whether Bailey will feature in Villa’s long-term plans or be moved elsewhere before the transfer window closes.

Behind the scenes, Villa were required to negotiate an early release after Bailey’s loan deal reportedly did not include a termination clause.

At the same time, Roma held an option to make the move permanent for a fee in the region of £19 million.
