Stephenson’s Hat-Trick Leads Reggae Girls to 7-0 Triumph

A dominant performance from the Under-20 Reggae Girls saw them cruise to a resounding 7-0 victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines in their Concacaf Under-20 Women’s Championship qualifiers opener on Thursday.
Alyssa Stephenson was the star of the show, netting in the 15th minute before doubling her tally in first-half added time.
The prolific forward then completed her hat-trick on the hour mark, sealing a memorable individual display.
Avery Johnson added to the tally in the 25th minute, followed by Maya Raghunandanan’s strike three minutes later. Captain Jaileah Cox McPherson joined the scoresheet in the 42nd minute, with Andrene Smith capping off the first-half dominance in the 45th.
With the emphatic win, the Reggae Girls climbed to the top of the Group D standings with three points.
Nicaragua also impressed in the group’s second fixture, overpowering St. Kitts and Nevis with an 8-0 shutout to secure second place.
Over in Group F, Costa Rica started their campaign in style, easing past Aruba with a 4-0 victory.
Jamaica’s young stars will return to action on Saturday, facing St. Kitts and Nevis in their next challenge.
