NMIA Welcomes New Flight from Canada as Tourism Ministry Targets 500,000 Canadian Visitors Annually

The Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) celebrated the arrival of a new nonstop flight from Toronto on December 16, marking a significant addition to its flight roster.

Operated by Canadian airline – Flair Airlines, the flight carried 178 passengers and crew, symbolising the commencement of increased connectivity between Jamaica and Canada.

As the winter tourist season kicks into full swing in Jamaica, this new service is poised to contribute to what is anticipated to be the country’s best winter season yet.

Flair is introducing a thrice-weekly flight service connecting Toronto Pearson International Airport and Norman Manley International Airport.

The airline said it’s delighted to meet the distinctive travel requirements of the Jamaican-Canadian community and Canadian vacationers with this new route.

In addition, Delta Airlines is gearing up to initiate non-stop flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport and Kingston in January.

Meanwhile, Jetlines, another Canadian airline, is scheduled to launch direct services between Toronto and Kingston in the early months of the upcoming year.

This development will bring the total number of airlines providing non-stop flights between Canada and Kingston to five.

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett emphasised the strategic importance of the new nonstop route in meeting the ambitious target of attracting 500,000 Canadian visitors annually.
