Leon Bailey’s Brilliance Helps Propel Aston Villa to Record-Breaking 15th Consecutive Home Win, Defeating Arsenal 1-0
On Saturday, Aston Villa extended their remarkable home winning streak to a club-record 15 consecutive victories in the Premier League.
John McGinn’s early goal proved decisive, as Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal suffered a breathless 1-0 defeat, thwarting their bid to reclaim the top spot in the league.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, coming off a stunning 1-0 triumph over champions Manchester City earlier in the week, now find themselves in third place with 35 points after 16 games in what has become a tightly contested title race.
Arsenal, who slipped to second place after being overtaken by Liverpool earlier on the same day, are closely trailing with 36 points.

The game’s sole goal came in the seventh minute. Bailey’s blistering run down the right wing culminated in a precise cutback, finding John McGinn in the box.
McGinn, Villa’s captain, took single touch before clinically firing past Arsenal’s keeper David Raya.
A jubilant McGinn, speaking to Sky Sports, downplayed talk of Villa being title contenders, saying, “I’m banning the T-word. It’s game week 16, so there’s a long, long way to go, and we respect everyone in front of us who have been in this position for years. We’re newbies. Can we keep it up? Hopefully.”
Unai Emery echoed McGinn’s sentiments, emphasising that the season is still in its early stages. “I will speak when we are in (week) 30, 32, and if we are in the same position then as we are now, I can speak about (the title race),” said Emery.
Villa Park reverberated with joy as the final whistle blew, with delighted fans singing “Hi Ho Aston Villa.”
The victory solidifies Aston Villa’s position as a formidable force in the Premier League and sets the stage for an exciting continuation of their campaign.
