(WATCH) Jamaican Woman Gets Married Amid Mass Protest In Philadelphia
Dr. Kerry-Anne Perkins, a Jamaican born doctor recently got married despite being in the heart of a Black Lives Matter protest in the US city of Philadelphia.
The protest, one of many currently taking place globally was in honour of George Floyd.
Last month, Floyd – a 46-year-old black man, died in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes while he was lying face down handcuffed on the street.
Infatuation levels among the masses soared as video footage of Floyd’s horrific demise circulated, triggering mass protests in cities across the United States and around the globe.
Shortly after tying the knot, Dr. Kerry-Anne Perkins and Michael Gordon stepped outside to join the protesters.
The newlyweds were greeted with cheers from all sides when the joined the crowd outside the Logan Hotel.
The couple subsequently kissed and posed for wedding photos to remember their special day.
Dr Perkins, an obstetric and gynaecology resident physician at St John’s Episcopal Hospital and a US Army Reserve captain, said via Instagram that it was a story seven years in the making.
