Jamaican Triple Jumper Impresses With World Leading Performance
Jamaican triple jump specialist and defending NCAA Indoor triple jump champion Clive Pullen recently stole the show at the Tyson invitational track and field meeting in Arkansas with a world leading performance.
Pullen, a former Kingston College athlete who now competes for the University of Arkansas, achieved a new personal best of 17.19 metres – the best in the world so far this year.
And his performance means that he now sits at number three in the University of Arkansas’ history.
He also earns a place in the collegiate record books as the 10th all-time best performer in NCCA history.
In 2016, Pullen has etched his name the history books after becoming the first Jamaican man since 1972 to qualify for the Olympic games in the triple jump.
Shardia Lawrence formerly of Vere Technical and Hydel was also at her best in the girls event.
Lawrence now competing for Kansas State University cleared 13.75 metres for second place bettering her previous best of 13.34 metres.
