Explosions Continue in The US

Between five and fifteen persons have been killed and 160 hurt in a huge explosion at a fertilizer plant in Waco, Texas last night according to authorities.

The explosion was so powerful it registered as a magnitude 2.1 earthquake. The blast  destroyed several buildings within  a 4-mile radius and has been described as a nuclear blast. It also forced about half the town’s population of about 2,800 people to evacuate.

Many  fire-fighters are feared to be among the dead as officials stated that they could not be found. Rescue efforts are ongoing to search for persons trapped in collapsed buildings.

The cause of the explosion is still undetermined, but experts say the blast could have been triggered by ammonia. Police are viewing the incident as a crime.

Dr. George Smith, the city’s emergency management system director stated the death toll could be between five and 15 but could spike to 60 or 70.
